Tuesday Tips for STRETCHING a dollar

Jan 14

When facing tough times financially here are a couple of tips:

Tip #1
You must distinguish between WANTS and NEEDS.

Tip #2
Here is a general order of priority for expenses.  (Thanks to Joseph Sangl)

  1. Food and Medicine (groceries-offbrand/generics)
  2. Housing and Utilities (loan, insurance, taxes, utilities)
  3. Transportation (loan, insurance, taxes, gasoline)
  4. Secured Debts (boat, motorcycle, four-wheeler, furniture)
  5. Unsecured Debts (credit cards, student loans, etc)

Take some time and put together a written spending plan.  Once all the expenses are itemized, spend some time prioritizing them.

These are great first steps!  Congratulations!
