Sunday Reflections and Discipleship Notes
October 20th, 2008 Posted in Church at the Grove, Random ThoughtsKey Passage and Point:
God must work on us and in us in order to Shine through us!
Memory Verse:
Malachi 4:2 (NIV)
2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.
Action Step:
Examine the one or two areas in your life where you struggle the most in exercising faith. Prayerfully, by faith trust Jesus with those areas and take a practical step this week to exercise your faith. Ask someone in our church to pray for you in these areas.
Reflections:
- This weekend was an exceptionally encouraging weekend. Jill and I had 24 people in our home Friday night to discuss the vision of the church and we had a blast. Sunday morning was a great time of ministry. I see God doing some incredible things in the life of our people.
- WOW! Everybody left town this weekend. I can’t remember a weekend when so many people were out. I guess that is expected when you combine Fall Break with opening day of deer season and add in a Georgia homecoming game.
- I loved having our children sing happy birthday to Church at the Grove yesterday! It was fun seeing them on the stage. They are always a blast!
- There is so much hype about the economy! The reality is that I just don’t see it impacting people in our community to the point of them making significant changes in their lives. It is totally weird.
- I am looking forward to taking one or two days off this week. I mean real days off. Usually on an off day, I am still having to answer calls, make visits, and prepare for a sermon. I am hoping to take some time off this week that is long overdue.
- I enjoyed yesterday’s service and I am looking forward to this coming Sunday!
- The thing I am excited about the most is the “anticipation” that I have about what God has in store for us in the near and long term future. Good things are coming.
