Big Idea:
The first of two weeks on the character of God opens with a look at the “I Am.” As we read in Job, we find out how self-sufficient, self-reliant, and self-supporting God really is. He doesn’t need us, which makes his love for us even more amazing!
Scripture Memory:
Job 37:23 (NCV) The Almighty is too high for us to reach. He has great strength; he is always right and never punishes unfairly.
Action Step:
Get alone and get creative….write God a poem, song, or letter describing the greatness of his power, the strength of his love, and the incredible extent of his holiness. Basically, take some time this week to be amazed at the God that we worship and figure out a way to tell him.
Random Thoughts:
- This has been a great week to catch our (Mine and Jill’s) breath. We have had a crazy and busy fall and this week was the first in a while that we didn’t have the schedule quite as packed. That along with Craig teaching this morning was greatly refreshing.
- This morning was unique, refreshing and thought-provoking! I loved Craig’s teaching on God’s self-sufficiency and how it makes God’s love even more amazing. Ric’s idea for the band being behind the screen created a depth in our worship that I can’t quite explain or define. I do know that I am glad he did it and I look forward to when we do it again. We have a great team of leaders!
- Nathan and Katelyn get back in tonight from their honeymoon, but the honeymoon doesn’t have to end. Excuse me, I think I am making myself sick.
- We have been having a lot of guest lately, but I get really excited about days like today when we had a large number of 2nd time guests!
- This week I will officially be tired of Christmas music and the 674 cheesy Christmas movies that the shallow television industry obviously thinks that we are interested in.
- Jill and I were able to spend some time tonight with James and Megan, a sweet young couple getting married in June. They have a great spirit about them and I am excited to see what God does in and through their lives and marriage.
- I love having a week off from teaching, but I always miss it. I am looking forward to this coming Sunday.
- Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I agree! Not having you on stage once in a while is nice!
Craig did a fantastic job of teaching from Job. It was true teaching. Not preaching. I saw many tears during and after the service. I was able to turn everything off & feel the presence of God.
Having the band hidden was great as it allowed us to focus on His unseen presence in the room.
Awesome leadership!!
