A churchplanter’s missional influence in the lives of those “least likely to go to church”.

Sunday Reflections and Discipleship Notes

July 20th, 2009 Posted in Church at the Grove, Random Thoughts

Big Idea:
While Faith is the basis for our justification, works is a barometer for our justification.

Scripture Memory:
James 2:18 (ESV)
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Action Step:
Plan now to take a step this fall serving somewhere on a weekly basis, making yourself accountable for living out your faith.  Where are you living out your faith?

 Random Thoughts:

  • I have got to be honest:  I am ready for summer to be over with!  I am ready for everyone to be back at home and to be back at church at CATG!  I enjoy summer and part of me hates having such a short summer but I feel so disconnected from people.
  • Yesterday was a great day at CATG!  I love how Gabe Shababy is leading our worship team and I really enjoyed having Brian Hansen lead worship for us.  He did a great job.
  • Most importantly:  I sense God working in and through our gatherings.
  • I love the book of James!  It is so practical in how it challenges us to apply our faith in our daily lives.
  • Where are you in relationship to applying your faith?  Do you have Dead Faith, Demonic Faith, or Dynamic Faith?
  • Let’s put our faith into Action as a community of Jesus followers!
  • I am looking forward to serving the teachers at YMS and WGHS this coming week!  We serve YMS on Friday morning and WGHS on Monday morning.  Come join us!
  • What a great sports weekend for Atlanta and Georgia people.  The Braves killed the Mets, Stewart Cink won The Open, and Matt Ryan wins an ESPY!  We also inch closer to Georgia Football!
  • I am about to begin my sixth week of P90x workouts.  I am enjoying it but they are intense! (Especially for an old guy)
  • We have so much to do as a church to continue to have impact on this community!
  • Community Groups will begin soon.  Are you ready to either host or facilitate a group?

Keep praying, Keep worshiping, keep starting conversations!  See you this week!

Great message on Sunday. We should constantly examine ourselves and work out our faith ( in fear and trembling).
