Sunday Reflections and Discipleship Notes

May 17

Big Idea:
Godly men honor God, take risks for His glory and see obstacles as opportunities for God to show Himself!

Memory Verse:
Psalms 1:1-3 (NIV)
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Action Step:
Pray and ask God this week for a vision and dream that you can initiate and take part in that has significant risks and can only happen if God is involved.

Random Thoughts:

  • I don’t mention our numbers or stats a lot but I have to mention that this was the largest EVER non-holiday/special event crowd in the history of Church at the Grove!  It is simply exciting that we are impacting our community!  And this is MAY!  Usually attendance is down right now.
  • I love our volunteers!  They rock!  We could not do what we do without them!
  • I am thankful to all the people that helped us move out of our office in Walnut Grove in into our temporary home offices.  Thank you.
  • For the most part, we have finished my basement office.  I still need some shelves built but I am in and it is awesome.  Jeff Baker is the man!  I couldn’t be in here without him.  Also, Billy and Melinda Guy have been a huge help.  Special props go to my Uncle Tom for helping me wire it.  Actually, I helped him.
  • Last week was awesome, but it is great to have Ric back.  That guy and the job he does with the band is awesome!
  • I love Pat Hardin and his family.  Pat made it an awesome service today.  He is a great communicator/speaker!  I am praying for Pat, Joy, and Kelsey and their ministry to Romania.  I hope CATGrove pours on the support.
  • I love Nathan and Kaitlyn Boyd!  They do such an awesome job in ministry!  I spoke at the Loganville High School Baccalaureate today held at Oasis Church and had a blast!  It was such an honor to be asked and to be a part.  I love challenging and encourage students at this juncture in the their life.  I hope they chase God-sized dreams and live the abundant life that God has for them.
  • I can’t believe what God is doing in and through CATGrove right now!  It is an incredibly fun and exciting time.  Most churches don’t grow in May or during the summer.  Let’s go against the grain ALL SUMMER!  Let’s keep it growing!
  • I am looking forward to “The Woman Series” this coming two weeks.  Jill is going to help me speak next week and I am not sure what is happening yet the next week.
  • Get some rest, chase a lion, dream and God-sized dream, honor God, love people and have a great week.
