Sunday Reflections and Discipleship Notes

Dec 29

Big Idea: 2009 is a year to have joy and pursue Jesus!

Focus Verse:
Philippians 3:7-8 (NIV)
7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ

Action Steps:
For 2009 here are some ideas and goals:

  • Laugh More
  • Resist Joy Thieves:  Don’t let negative people or circumstances influence you.
  • Take yourself less seriously.
  • Readjust your compass:  Examine whether you are focusing on the right things.
  • Pursue Jesus recklessly.
  • Redefine success:  In light of these tough times economically, define success through relationships.

 Random Thoughts:

  • Wednesday night’s Christmas Eve celebration was one of the best things I have been a part of at Church at the Grove.  It was an incredible night of worship and celebration of our Savior’s birth!  Thanks to Ric, and the band for their hard work, extra hours and their focus on Jesus.
  • Christmas was a blast for our family.  We scaled down on gifts and focused on family and fun.  We had fun and it was great to relax.
  • Sunday morning we had church at my house with some neighbors and friends.  Josiah and Jill led us in some worship songs and we talked about Paul’s perspectives in Philippians mentioned above.  It was a blast.
  • I am pumped about the momentum that CATG has right now!  I am praying about our plans for the New Year!
  • I hope you and your family has an incredible week and a Happy New Year!
  • Don’t miss the beginning of our new series this Sunday:  GPS:  Finding and Following God’s Will.
  • See you Sunday!
