The last two days have been unique to say the least.  Sunday morning was awesome!

We had a great Sunday at CATG!  Eight people (it could be more, but I know at least eight) crossed over from death to life and turned to follow Christ!  That is incredible!  That is exciting!  That makes me want to spike a hymnal!  If you do not know what a hymnal is……….I absolutely love it!

Sunday night was incredible!  We had fifteen wonderful people over at my house for our C-3 membership class and had an absolute blast!  Ken, Tammy, Scott, Kelly, Nathan, Katelyn, Sandra, Nick, Karla, Crystal, Shawn, Billy, Melinda, Madolyn, and Keith and all of your children……..You guys are the greatest and Jill and I had a blast hanging out with you!

I then received an email from Shamrelle about her son trusting Christ and wanting to be baptized on June 3!  I was absolutely physically exhausted but I was riding an emotional high…………………….THEN!

We received an email telling us that one of the young men that was in our first youth group at Concord Baptist Church in Clermont, GA was killed by a roadside bomb while on patrol in Iraq.  I was absolutely crushed!  Jason Harkins was a precious child of God and died Sunday May 6 at the age of 25.

Yesterday was a rollercoaster ride.  We had a wonderful time hanging out with Matt and Andrea last night.  They are a young couple who have been coming to CATG for a while and we enjoyed hanging out with them last night.  They are so nice and we enjoyed them so much.

I have come to realized that life doesn’t always make sense and it is full of rollercoaster days, weeks and stages in life.  That is why I HAVE to trust God.

Join me……take a step…….Trust God.

  1. Hey Russ, it’s Woody…heard about Jason too and I’m just at a loss for words…my heart certainly goes out to Alan and Nancy. They are the sweetest people and I can’t imagine what they’re going thru right now. Give me a call sometime I’d love to talk to ya or you can email me and I can give you some other news that recently happened in my life & I’d love to catch up sometime over lunch or golf….

    Later dude!

  2. I am so sorry for the family of this beloved Soldier that they have lost much to soon. I know that God does not promise us tomorrow so I tell everyone that I know to cherish the time they do have with the ones that they love. Shawn and I know first hand at what it is like to have someone there one minute and gone the next.
Russ and Jill…. Thank you so very much for opening your door to us on Sunday. God has dealt with my heart for some time now and I know I should listen. I am hoping that we have a visitor this weekend. Pray that they follow their hearts and come with us!
