Presidential Election
October 7th, 2008 Posted in Leadership, CultureI am sitting here working on some sermon stuff while watching the Presidential Debate. Let me share a few thoughts I have about politics and politicians. I DON’T LIKE EITHER!
I really don’t put a lot of stock in politics or politicians. They both take well-meaning and good people and twist them into people easily influenced by agenda-driven politics and special-interest groups.
With that said, here is what I desire and look for in a President:
- I would like to have a President that was committed to considering the truths of God espoused in the Bible but I know that my ideals may not always be possible or public. I would like the President to be man or woman committed to leading with integrity and character without worrying about public opinion polls or popularity with the political community!
- I would like the President to lead our nation with a high level of competence expected of a CEO that is held to a high level of accountability. This competence is to be our Commander-in-Chief, our fiscal financial leader and morally responsible leader.
- I would like the President to bring experts from different fields to the table of leadership and influence without regard to political affiliation. Let’s work together to accomplish good and get the job done and not worry who gets the credit.
- I would like the President to take a stand on what he or she believes without flip-flopping based on what is politically popular and acceptable.
- I would like the President to lead from a core belief and philosophy that all human life is a product of a creator and should be held as precious.
More to come……….
