A churchplanter’s missional influence in the lives of those “least likely to go to church”.

Monday Morning Thoughts

September 3rd, 2007 Posted in Church at the Grove, Jesus, Random Thoughts

Yesterday was an amazing Sunday!  We had an amazing crowd for a Labor Day Sunday, but more importantly, it was a significant Sunday for CATGrove.  We celebrated communion together and experienced an intimate time of community together.  The presence of Christ was rich yesterday.  We also set up “in the round”.  Check out the pics below.  Continue reading below the pics.

CATG in the Round

Thoughts for Labor day Monday:

  • We regularly teach in 4-6 series but yesterday was a “stand alone” Sunday titled “Linked”.  We are all “linked” through our relationship with Christ.  The Church is not a place, building, or a piece of property.  The Church is people!  Read my friend Adam’s post about “being” the church here.  Check out what the apostle Paul says about this here.  Life is a journey that is simply too hard to be made alone.  We need each other and church matters!
  • Amy Story has worked hard and has done a great job getting our Community Groups ready for this coming week.  Don’t miss out on a Community Group.
  • College football started this weekend!  Georgia 35 – Oklahoma State 14.  South Carolina comes to Athens next week.  What is the deal with Appalachian St. beating Michigan?  This has to be one of the biggest upsets of all time in College football.  Tech humbled the Fighting Irish.  They look serious.
  • I went dove hunting with my son, my brother and his son, and my uncle Saturday.  Doves fly way too fast and they are having a good laugh at my expense this weekend.  I hit one dove and THAT may have been an accident.
  • I am hanging out with my son this weekend while my wife Jill, my daughter Abigail, and my youngest son Caleb are in South Georgia for a family reunion.  It has been fun hunting, watching football, eating junkier food than normal (don’t tell Jill), and basically just enjoying some father son time.
  • This has been an intense stretch of ministry for the past month or so.  I love it but it is exhausting.
  • My heart is hurting for some families that are going through some rough times.  I am praying for marriages and families to make it.
  • Our new series on sexuality “Can We Bring Sexy Back?” starts Sunday!  I am excited and it is going to be awesome!  Don’t miss it.
  • I’m off for breakfast with my son.
