A churchplanter’s missional influence in the lives of those “least likely to go to church”.

Midweek Reflections and This week in the Grove

December 23rd, 2009 Posted in Church at the Grove, Random Thoughts

Big Idea:
God reveals himself to those that are humble and hungry.

Scripture Memory:
Philippians 2:6-8 (ESV)
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form,
8 he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Action Step:
Make a commitment this Christmas season to help us take the best Christmas gift (Jesus) to those in this community in 2010!

Random Thoughts:

  • What a weekend and week!  After a quiet night at the Butcher home on Friday night we awoke early Saturday morning and made our way to the Wal Mart on Rockbridge Rd. near Stone Mountain.  What an incredible experience as we ministered to a group of women from the Atlanta Union Mission homeless shelter!
  • I estimate around 40 Church at the Grove people were serving at the shelter with the children and at the Stone Mtn. Walmart with the mothers!  Huge showing for Church at the Grove!
  • It amazes me how blessed my family is when we take part in these ministry projects!  Our small challenges shrink in light of what some of these ladies are going through.  God works in our lives as we love on others!
  • Sunday morning was another amazing morning at the Grove!  What a huge crowd!
  • I am hoping this momentum that we have will carry over in our new location at Walnut Grove High School.
  • I was overwhelmed by how many people were willing to stay after the service and help us load our equipment for the move!  Did I say I was overwhelmed?
  • We had another great group show up this morning to help us load in at Walnut Grove High School.  Thank you to all who helped!
  • I am so excited about our Christmas Eve celebration AND about our Sunday gathering for Dec. 27!  Don’t miss it!
  • We begin a brand new series on Jan. 3 called “Crazy Love”!  This is a great time to invite your friends and family!
  • I hope you all have a HUGE Merry Christmas!  Blessings to you and your family!

Keep praying, Keep investing, Keep inviting!
