A churchplanter’s missional influence in the lives of those “least likely to go to church”.

Books I am Reading on Vacation

June 19th, 2007 Posted in Culture, Random Thoughts

Well Aaron Baddeley did not win the U.S. Open.  He played very Baddeley!  HA!  Sorry, I could not refuse that one.

I did shoot an 85 yesterday!  I like setting goals and one of my ‘golf’ goals over a year ago was to shoot consistently below 90 and it is exciting to come to a point to have to reset a goal!

I am not playing golf today because I actually have to study for my message this coming Sunday.  I know, I know, it is vacation but we still have our gathering at the CATG this Sunday.  One thing I love is my sermon prep!

I am reading a few books this week.  Check out what I am reading on vacation:

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis:  Lewis was a professor of Literature at Oxford and later Cambridge.  Mere Christianity came from a series of talks he did on the radio during World War II to simply explain the beliefs of Christianity.  He is famous for The Chronicles of Narnia out of which “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wordrobe” was recently made into a major motion picture.

God’s Grace for the Homosexual Next Door by Alan Chambers:  Chambers writes an excellent book regarding the church’s inability to respond scripturally to the homosexual issue and gives a simple and scriptural anecdote to how God would have us (Christians) respond to this issue.

Sex God by Rob Bell: Bell writes another exceptional book that explores the endless connections between our relationship with God, spirituality, and sexuality.

I have a couple more in my bag.  If I get to them by the end of vacation, I will let you know how they turn out.

I am about to take the kids to the beach!
