This past Saturday night we had an informational/vision meeting about our Social Circle Launch next January 2012.  Here is a quote from one of the people at the meeting:

“I am excited out of my mind, but I am scared to death at the same time.”

I think that is right where God wants us to be!  We must continue to move forward to fulfill the mission of our church!  I am much more scared of becoming inward focused and complacent.  We must move forward by faith trusting that God will lead us and guide us.

Read Joshua 1:5-9  God is faithful in His promise to be with us and never forsake us or leave us!  He encourages us to be courageous as we move forward.

With this in mind, here is what we need as we move forward in our Social Circle Launch:

  • We need families to prayerfully consider being a part of the Social Circle Launch Team.  We need you to consider making the Social Circle Campus your church home and we need you to serve faithfully to make it happen.
  • Please consider permanently becoming a part of the Social Circle Campus, especially if you live geographically close to the Social Circle area.
  • Please consider giving God ONE year of your life to help launch, build and invest into the lives of the people God wants to reach in the Social Circle area.
  • Please consider giving God SIX MONTHS of your life to help launch, build, and invest into the lives of the people God wants to reach in the Social Circle area.
  • Consider helping us invest into the Social Circle Community this fall as we do ministry to make a practical difference in the lives of the people in Social Circle.
  • Consider helping us organize and execute 3 preview services this fall that will give people in the area a chance to see what The Grove is about and what our gatherings are like.
  • Help us simply get the word out about The Grove at Social Circle!  Think of people in your circle of friends, neighbors, family and associates that might be impacted by this new Sunday gathering/community in the Social Circle area.
  • Please contact us (Nathan, Russ, Craig) if you are interested in any of this OR if you have any questions.

Don’t miss part 2 of “BLESSED” this Sunday!  “Blessed are those who mourn”

Use Memorial Day as an opportunity to connect with someone in your neighborhood or family!  Invest and Invite!  Start a discussion/conversation that might lead to sharing the hope that is found in Jesus!

Remember to live BLESSED this week:  We are BLESSED when we are at the end of our rope!  When we are at the end of our rope, Jesus can take over!

Hey Church at the Grove!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about what God is doing in and through the life of Church at the Grove!

Listen to this

“I haven’t been to church for a long time. This is one of the best I have ever been to.”

Words from a mother attending CATGrove with her daughter this past Sunday.

Here is another:

“Wow, I took my mom there last weekend and she LOVED it……. She said if they lived down here that this would be the church they went to. She couldn’t say enough about it. We love going there. I have gotten my hubby to start going too… he likes it. We love the fact that it’s laid back, casual dress and not so high opionated about everyone. Everyone is loved. You can tell the moment you come thru the doors. I actually took my mother-in-law last Sunday…WE WERE ALL THERE.
Thank you guys for introducing us to this wonderful church FAMILY.”

God is working and we simply want to stay focused and continue to join and partner Him in the Great Commission!

Summer is approaching it is a time to slow down and bit and relax.  THAT IS A GOOD THING!

Please let me challenge you not to relax about continuing to allow God to use you through the summer. Summer is a great time to prepare to hit the fall running with seeing new people introduced to a relationship with Jesus!  Please stay focused in these areas:

Sunday morning: Don’t skip out on what God wants to do over the next few months in our Sunday gatherings!  If you are going to be out of town for a vacation, go and enjoy it!  Make sure you are not missing too many gatherings!  You can’t invite someone to come with you if you are not there yourself!

Community Group & and Summer Group Link: Don’t miss the opportunity to connect and meet new people and hang out with your friends at our 3 group link fellowships this Summer.  Put them on your calendar for June 12; July 10; and August 7.  You will hear soon about the locations and details of these Group Link events.

Starting Conversations and loving our community: Always remember to be praying for your friends, family members and neighbors, always be investing and always be willing to invite them to join you at our Gatherings.

We want to be intentional about everyone taking steps in their spiritual journey! We want them to be easy steps to take that will help them connect in their relationship with God and in relationships with other people.  Here are some specific steps you can help direct people to as they come into our community:

NewComers: This is a monthly small gathering for those that have attended and visited CATGrove.  We take 15-20 minutes to share briefly the vision and heartbeat of CATGrove and why we would start a church in this community.

Next Steps 101: This is our gathering where we share in more detail about the vision, mission and values of CATGrove.  We share about our beliefs, how we “do church” and share about what is important for anyone to be a member and involved in the life of Church at the Grove.

Launch 201:  This gathering simply leads people in understanding and practicing essential disciplines of a follower of Jesus.

Help us move people into connection and our process of discipleship in the life of Church at the Grove!

Summer Slump:
Most churches struggle financially with the summer slump!  People travel and go out of town during the summer but many do not make up their giving when they come back to church.  Let’s continue to provide for the ministry that God has entrusted to us!

One of the ways to do that is to get setup to give automatically online.  You can go here to this link to give “one time” online.  You can go here to this link to set up automated scheduled giving.

Let’s keep moving forward with what God has called us to do!

Keep praying, Keep investing, keep inviting!

I was completely overwhelmed by the destruction wrought by the tornadoes across the southeast last week.  My heart breaks and goes out to those impacted by these disastrous storms.  I am so thankful for the outpouring of people providing clothes, water and other misc. supplies that will be delivered on Thursday of this week!  Thank you so much for the generosity!  I am so thankful to be a part of a generous church willing to make a practical and observable difference.  I honestly don’t have an explanation to why these disasters happen when they do but I choose by faith to “trust His heart when I can’t trace His hand.”

Bin Laden

I was about to go to bed on Sunday night and just before I turned off the news, I saw the “breaking news” announcement that Osama Bin Laden had been killed during a covert operation led by an American Military Navy SEALS Team. The news, internet and social media response is overwhelming.  Here are a few thoughts from my heart based on a biblical, Christian persepective:

  • I am thankful for the USA and the freedoms for which many have fought and sacrificed!  I am thankful for the military and their sacrifice and their work!  I commend them for carrying out a successful mission.
  • Justice against terror is the responsibility of governing authorities and they did their job! Romans 13:1-5
  • We in the church and the Christian community should support and pray for those defending us against terror.
  • We should be careful of celebrating or rejoicing over any persons death, even when they are our enemy. Proverbs 24:17-18
  • The gospel of Jesus is the ONLY LASTING HOPE for people held in bondage by Islam or terrorism.
  • We must continue to pray for those in authority who have responsibilities to protect our freedoms. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
  • We should grieve in our hearts over those that perish without the eternal life that Jesus offers! 2 Peter 3:9

This past Sunday:

God, out of His GRACE, chooses to establish a nation from which a rescuer will come and He makes three promises to Abram:

  1. I’m going to make you into a great nation.  Anybody heard of Israel?
  2. I will make you name great?  Who has heard of Abraham?  4000 years ago
  3. All peoples will be blessed through you.  3 world religions refer to Abraham as significant.

God Started the relationship with asking Abram to TRUST Him.

Relationship with God comes by GRACE!

Ephesians 2:8–9

God most wants us to TRUST Him!

This Week:

Practice trusting God this week when you are tempted to get anxious or tempted to control things in your own strength.  Receive His GRACE and rest in it.
Proverbs 3:5-6
