I set a goal for our family to read the Bible all the way through this year.  Right now we are doing great with keeping up and it has been a lot of fun.

Abigail and Caleb get a little distracted but for the most part Jill, Josiah and I are able to stay focused.

We gather together mostly in the evening and we are following a Bible Reading Plan from NavPress.  You can check it out for yourself.  The plan will alternate books of the Bible to keep it fresh.  On days our schedule is crazy, often Jill will read with the kids in the morning and some days we split it up with morning and evening.  Jill is also working with them on memorization utilizing a Catechism.

I got the idea from reading Tony Morgan’s blog this past year.  Check out his post explaining his plan.  We are also using The Message Bible translation and it is an attention grabber for the kids.

I don’t think everyone has to read the Bible through in a year but I think it is a great idea to gather as a family for a time of devotion, Bible reading and family worship and prayer on a daily basis.

I know we might get off schedule a bit, but for the most part it is going well and I anticipate we will be able to continue it.  I have learned that when you get off schedule on a goal, you simply have to pick up where you left off and not get discouraged.

Frances Chan is the pastor of Cornerstone Church in California.  He is an awesome man of God and an incredible teacher.  Check out what they are doing with their unique outdoor worship facility.  It is different and I don’t think it would work in Georgia, but it is a creative idea.

Also, we often have opportunities to share something over the web that can communicate the truth of Jesus and His plan for us.  Have you been looking for something you can send to a friend or family member that communicated the love of Jesus but still be done with excellence and not come across cheesy?  Try this one:

Juststopandthink.com  This is a great resource!

This is done really well.  You will love it and it will communicate to your friends well.

I have a heavy heart for my friend Kevin, the students and the entire Loganville Christian Academy family during their difficult time.

I am praying for Anchor Church as they navigate God’s leadership as well.

My heart is heavy for the family of Meridith Emerson, the young lady found dead this week after being abducted in the North Georgia Mountains.

It is times like these that “the body of Christ” becomes real, goes into action to provide for practical needs and offer much encouragement.  The Body of Christ is real and it does often operate with people from other local churches.

Galatians 6:2 (NIV)
2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Please join us in praying for these issues and many others just like them.  It would be so appreciated.
