I really don’t think we understand the significance of humor in our life and even in our spiritual journey!

We should laugh more!

And Laugh!

I can’t count how many conversations I have had in the last two weeks regarding forgiveness!  People are hurting!

People have forgiveness issues with their parents, with their siblings, with friends (or former friends) and with people that are no longer living!

Here’s the deal, we are called to ask for forgiveness from God through what Christ did on the cross.  We should forgive others for things done to hurt us whether knowingly or unknowingly.  Unforgiveness and bitterness ONLY hurts those harboring it, it never hurts those who are the targets of unforgiveness and bitterness.  Basically, unforgiveness is wrong, unhealthy and has no significant purpose for its end.

I read a great post on forgiveness written by Perry Noble.  Check it out by clicking on his name.

He gives an entertaining story and shares some significant thoughts on forgiveness and unforgiveness.

Let me know what your thoughts and comments are.  If you have any questions pass them on.  I may not have all the answers, but we can at least talk about it.

This morning was significant:

  • I pulled a muscle in my calf during setup.  I am not young anymore!
  • Today was Bethany’s last Sunday with us.  She is taking a youth ministry position at a church in Atlanta and it is a great opportunity for her.  She will be with us on occasion.  I was so proud of how CATG responded to her in love this morning.
  • We have awesome people!
  • We baptized several people this morning.  This is significant:  Only one was a child!
  • We set out 9 months ago to be a church for the people that were the least likely to go to church.  We are seeing THAT become a REALITY!  God is using CATG to touch lives.
  • I am praying for and using this summer to put some leaders into place for keys areas in the fall.  Please pray with me and even consider leading a ministry.  Areas of need:  Parking lot (Creating a First Impression as people drive on the campus and a Lasting Impression as they leave the campus); Greeter (First Impression as they enter the building and find their way around); Usher (First Impression in auditorium through handing a worship guide and helping seat people); Snacks and refreshments; Set-up and Breakdown; Creative Design for our Teaching Series; Signs (setting up our signs on Friday afternoon in front of the school)
  • I am thankful for Craig Story, David Odom, Amanda Odom, Sandy Terrell, and Rosemary Kirby.  Without their valuable service, we could not have started so strong at CATG!
  • We dig in with our new “Outtakes” series next week with “The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”.  Next week’s teaching is on “GOOD vs. EVIL”  What do you believe about this?
  • I absolutely NEED to play a round of golf!

I have the same feeling on Saturdays that I had on Thursdays in High School the day before our Friday football game.  Tomorrow is game day.  Please know that I take Sundays at CATGmore seriously than football on Saturday nights!  Something about people’s eternal destiny makes it a little more serious.

Yesterday and today are YARD DAYS.  I am trying to keep up with others in the neighborhood.

I am reading three awesome books right now.  You will continue to hear about them on Sundays, in my BLOG, and if you are lucky and bored, you will hear about them when we talk personally.  One is on “Authentic Community”, one is on “Re-defining Evangelism” and the other is on “SEX”.  Yes, your pastor is reading a book on “SEX”.  There are a lot of sarcastic thoughts I want to type right now but I probably shouldn’t.

One of my neighbors is trying to talk me into jumping off a huge rock face into the rock quarry behind our houses today.  It is filled with water at least.  I am probably stupid to do it, but I probably will.  More to come on that later.  I know “Shut up and JUMP!”

I am having a great time reading the book of Joshua in the Old Testament and the book of 1 Timothy in the New Testament right now.  Good Stuff!

I am praying for some leaders to step up and take some leadership in critical areas at CATG.   More to come on that.

If you read this today (Saturday June 2), make sure you invite someone to CATG with you tomorrow.

We are baptizing several people tomorrow at CATG.  I have been looking over their testimonies this morning.  It is going to be awesome!

Get out of your house today and talk to someone in the neighborhood.

UGA football is getting closer everyday!
