This is a video from Newspring Church on Mother’s Day. We will be featuring Perry Noble during our “OnePrayer” series. He will be giving a message via video on “Making the Church Dangerous”. This video is an example of making the church dangerous. Get your kleenex and watch!

One Prayer

May 15th, 2008 Posted in Church at the Grove, Church | 1 Comment »

One Prayer

Church at the Grove is officially committed to One Prayer this June.  After much prayer and discussion we decided that this is something too significant NOT to be a part of.

What is One Prayer?

It is an opportunity for the Church (the CHURCH at large) to stand together for 4 weeks in order to display unity to the world and hopefully see the power of God do something significant in these individual communities of faith.  The One Prayer concept is built around what a pastor’s and church’s ONE prayer would be for the church.  If you had only one prayer you could share for the church, what would it be?

Each participating church will have their Lead Pastor share a message of his ONE prayer for the church on June 8 and for the next 3 weeks 3 different pastors would be sharing their ONE prayer in that particular local church.  Each pastor and church will choose which 3 pastors will present their ONE prayer message via video.

The month of June will be a month of prayer, fasting, giving, and seeking for God to pour His Spirit out upon the church.  I am hoping that as a result of this month, the church’s influence in our culture will grow exponentially.

Be praying for ONE PRAYER and don’t miss what God has in store for Church at the Grove through it.

Generational Discipleship

May 12th, 2008 Posted in Family, Bible | No Comments »

Our family is reading the Bible through this year together and this week we are reading in the Hebrew scriptures in the book of Judges.

We came to this passage and I can’t get it out of my mind.

Judges 2:10-13 (NIV)
10 After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel.
11 Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals.
12 They forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They provoked the LORD to anger
13 because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

I believe one of the imperatives of the missional church in our culture is motivating and equipping parents to disciple their children in the home.  One of the keys to halting the decline of influence of the church in our culture is to implement generational discipleship that begins in the home.  As we reach out to the unchurched and disconnected, we must continue to raise up our believer families through generational discipleship.  As we disciple new followers of Jesus, we must emphasize and equip them to disciple their own families.

What are you doing that has been fruitful in seeing people and families discipled?

Blogging Break for time with my bride!

May 12th, 2008 Posted in Church at the Grove | No Comments »

I will be with my bride on a short getaway for a few days and I will be taking a short break from the blog.

Yesterday was great at CATGrove!  It was an awesome mother’s day and we had a great service.

Ric and the band continue to amaze me.  Thank you to all the volunteers that make Sundays happen!  We could not do it without you.
